Pikmin 4 Switch 2 Edition now has the two dates that matter. The full release, carrying the longer name Pikmin 4 Nintendo Switch 2 Edition plus Dandori Academy, arrives on 12 November. A demo lands ten days earlier, on 2 November.
Both came out of a Pikmin Day Direct that Nintendo published without warning on 31 October. No new games were announced in it, which is unusual, but almost everything shown is out within a fortnight.
What the Pikmin 4 Switch 2 Edition demo includes
The headline detail is continuity. Save progress made in the 2 November demo carries straight into the full game, so time spent before launch is not wasted. The release date itself was first given at the September Direct; this presentation was about filling in the surrounding pieces.

Owners of the original Switch release are covered by an upgrade pack on the eShop rather than a second full purchase. For context on where this sits in the hardware’s library, our rundown of Nintendo Switch 2 games tracks native titles, Switch 2 Editions and free upgrades in one place.
Nintendo lists both products separately on its store, the full Nintendo Switch 2 Edition plus Dandori Academy release and the upgrade pack. Dandori Academy is the new material attached to this version, and it is also the bridge to the mobile game, which is not something a Pikmin release has done before.
A monthly animated short, narrated by Miyamoto
Nintendo also launched Hello! Pikmin, a series of animated shorts. The first episode is available already, Shigeru Miyamoto narrates, and new entries are planned monthly inside the Nintendo Today app rather than on a public video platform. Vooks covered the full presentation as it aired.

Secret Caves for Pikmin Bloom, and a date named after the series
Pikmin Bloom is getting an update called Secret Caves. Coverage of the Direct disagrees on the timing, some reporting winter and some a later update this year, so the window is best treated as not yet pinned down. The app will also talk to Dandori Academy: clearing exams in that mode opens extra maps inside Bloom.
Finally, Miyamoto declared 1 November to be Pikmin Day, and Nintendo is marking it officially from this year, which gives the series a fixed annual slot for exactly this kind of presentation. Anyone filling the gap before launch can raid our picks for the best offline games, and the Direct itself is worth watching for the Bloom segment alone, since the cross-game rewards were the only part of the show that changes how two products work together rather than just adding content to one.
What the Direct did not show
No new games. For a series presentation running on its own dedicated day, that is the headline absence, and it sets expectations for what Pikmin Day is going to be each year: a status update on the things already in motion rather than a reveal slot.
There was also no firm date for Secret Caves, no pricing detail attached to the upgrade pack beyond its eShop listing, and no indication of how many Hello! Pikmin shorts are planned. What the Direct did pin down is the pair of dates that matter to anyone playing in the next fortnight, the demo on 2 November and the release on 12 November, with progress carrying from one to the other.
