The Fortnite Battle Pass levels run from 1 to 100 in a full season and to 50 in a mini-season, and every level costs the same flat 80,000 XP. Finish the last level of a full pass and a Bonus Rewards track opens after it. Miss the season deadline and the levels you never reached are gone for good.
The structure has been stable since Battle Stars were retired on 1 December 2024 and XP began opening rewards directly. This guide follows the system rather than one season’s reward list, because the list changes every few weeks. One dated section near the end covers the pass running now.
How Many Fortnite Battle Pass Levels a Season Holds

A full season carries 100 levels and 100 standard rewards, one per level. A mini-season carries 50. The rewards are grouped into pages, usually two pages to an outfit, with the outfit sets as the headline items and styles and V-Bucks filling the rows between them.
| Season type | Levels | XP per level | XP to finish | Typical length |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Full season | 100 | 80,000 | 8,000,000 | About ten weeks; Override ran 73 days |
| Mini-season | 50 | 80,000 | 4,000,000 | A short bridge between chapters |
Two numbers sound alike and are not. The season level on the pass screen resets when the season ends. Account Level is a lifetime figure that survives every reset, so your Account Level never drops when a new pass begins.
What One Level Costs in XP
Every level takes 80,000 XP, from level 1 to level 100, with no ramp towards the end. That flat rate came in with the change that scrapped Battle Stars and Festival Points. All the passes, Battle Pass, Music Pass and LEGO Pass included, now fill from the same XP, earned in any mode.

Epic’s help text allows individual passes to differ, and the Quests tab shows an XP to next level counter, so that counter is the number to trust for the pass in front of you. For planning, the flat rate turns a season into simple arithmetic.
| Goal | Levels | Total XP | XP per day across a 73-day season |
|---|---|---|---|
| First 25 levels | 25 | 2,000,000 | 27,397 |
| Half a full pass | 50 | 4,000,000 | 54,795 |
| A full pass | 100 | 8,000,000 | 109,589 |
A mini-season halves the level count and also shortens the calendar by roughly half. Finishing 50 levels in a five-week mini-season needs about 114,286 XP a day, close to the 109,589 that a full pass asks over 73 days. Fewer levels do not mean an easier pass.
Where the XP Comes From

Quests do most of the work. Four Weekly Quests at 20,000 XP each make exactly one level, and a story quest at 10,000 XP is an eighth of one. The values below are from the season that ended on 1 November 2026, apart from the Sprite Dust row, which belongs to the current one. Quest values move between seasons, so read the table as a snapshot of the mix rather than a fixed price list.
| XP source | Typical value | How often | What it means |
|---|---|---|---|
| Weekly Quests | 20,000 each in Override | A new batch each week, Thursdays at 9 AM Eastern in Override | Four weeklies equal exactly one level |
| Four-weekly bonus | 25,000 in Override | Each time four Weekly Quests are done | The size changes from season to season |
| Story quests | 10,000 each | As the season releases them | Eight of them equal one level |
| Daily Quests | Steps of 5,000 in Override | Reset at 9 AM Eastern | Per-quest values are not published |
| Sprite Dust Service Station | 20,000 for 1,000 Sprite Dust | Once a day, capped at 140,000 a week | A current-season source only |
| Match play | No published values | Every match | Placement and eliminations both count |
| Creative, UEFN, LEGO, OG and Reload islands | Playtime plus accolades | Any time | Counts towards every pass at once |
Match play pays too, but Epic has never published what a placement or an elimination is worth, so no guide can give an honest figure. Islands built in Creative and UEFN pay playtime and accolade XP, and they count towards the season level. A soft limit applies to that kind of XP and Epic has not published it, which is why farming one island all day is not a substitute for the quests. The current season also adds XP through the sprites and Sprite Dust sold at the Service Station.
One boost is on the calendar. From 5 December 2026 Fortnite Crew members earn 20 per cent more XP, and party members without Crew get 10 per cent while playing with one. The boosts do not stack, so a party receives a single 10 per cent bonus however many members subscribe.
Bonus Rewards After the Final Level
Past level 100 the pass does not stop. Bonus Rewards pages open automatically and hold extra cosmetics, mainly alternate outfit styles and Super Styles for the pass characters. They keep drawing on the same XP, and Epic has never published a top level.
- They need the paid pass. Free-pass players keep levelling beyond 100 but cannot claim anything from the Bonus Rewards.
- Some cost more than one level. A reward that needs two level-ups takes 160,000 XP, and special styles can require quests that appear only after other rewards are claimed.
- They no longer hold V-Bucks. Since 19 March 2026 the Bonus Rewards contain cosmetics only, where the track used to add 500 V-Bucks on top of the main pass.
- Epic does not allow buying past level 100. Pass rewards cannot be purchased beyond that point, so the Bonus Rewards have to be earned in play.
That is the reason a finished full pass is a real commitment. Reaching level 100 is 8,000,000 XP, and a Bonus reward that costs two levels adds 160,000 XP to it, for cosmetics that are purely visual.
Claiming Rewards, Buying Late and Gifting the Pass

Each level you gain opens the next reward directly, with nothing to spend and nothing to convert. Rewards on opened pages can be claimed in any order, so a level-up does not force you to take the headline outfit first.
Buying the pass part-way through is fine. XP counts towards the season level whether or not you own the pass, so the day you buy it you receive every reward up to your current level at once. The pass costs V-Bucks, and redeeming a V-Bucks gift card explains how to put a card balance towards one.
- Launch Week bonus styles are the exception. They require the pass to be bought, or Crew to be active, in the first week of the season. Override’s window closed at 11:59 PM Eastern on 27 August 2026, a week after it began.
- Gifting adds a bonus style. Giving the pass to a friend during the season opens a gift bonus style for both of you. Gifting is switched off close to the end of the season.
- The free pass still levels. A free account earns the same XP and claims the free rewards on each page, which are a limited selection.
What Happens When a Season Ends
A pass has a hard stop. No grace period is published, and XP stops counting towards that pass the moment the season closes. What survives depends on what you had already done.
| Item | After the season ends |
|---|---|
| Rewards you already claimed | Stay on your account permanently |
| Rewards you reached but never claimed | Delivered automatically the next time you log in |
| Levels you did not reach | Lost, because XP stops counting towards that pass |
| Buying that pass | Not possible once the season has ended, and support cannot grant it |
| Season level | Resets to the start of the next pass |
| Account Level | Never resets, it is a lifetime figure |
| Pass items in the Item Shop | May appear no sooner than 18 months after the pass ends, with no guarantee |
The deadline itself deserves care. A pass screen can show an end date a day earlier than the date on Epic’s own page. Override showed 31 October in game while Epic listed 1 November Eastern Time, so treat the date on the pass screen as the cut-off and claim everything the day before.
The 18-month Item Shop rule applies to passes from Chapter 5 Season 4 onwards. Earlier passes stay exclusive. For anything inside a pass you want, waiting for a shop return is a gamble with an 18-month floor, not a plan.
How Recent Seasons Compare on Length
Full seasons now run about ten weeks. The last one, Override, ran from 20 August to 1 November 2026, which is 73 days. Chapter 7 Season 2 began on 19 March 2026, the date Epic changed the pass price.
| Season | Began | Ended | Length | Pass |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Chapter 7 Season 4, Override | 20 August 2026 | 1 November 2026 | 73 days | Override Battle Pass |
| Chapter 7 mini-season, Treasure Hunters | 1 November 2026 | 5 December 2026, the end event | 34 days | Treasure Hunters Battle Pass |
| Next season | 5 December 2026 | Not yet announced | Not yet announced | The normal Battle Pass returns |
Mini-seasons sit between chapters and run on a much shorter clock. That matters for planning, because the 80,000 XP per level does not shrink with the calendar.
The Pass Running Right Now, as of 5 November 2026
Fortnite entered a short mini-season called Treasure Hunters on 1 November 2026, with its own Treasure Hunters Battle Pass. Epic’s own Battle Pass page says the normal Battle Pass returns next season. The Chapter 7 end event is Saturday 5 December 2026, and the normal pass returns that day.
The Treasure Hunters pass costs 800 V-Bucks, the figure Epic set when it cut the pass from 1,000 on 19 March 2026, and finishing a pass returns 800 V-Bucks. Published figures for the Treasure Hunters level total differ, so this guide gives none. The pass screen lists the true count, and the XP per level stays as described above. The island and its theme are covered in our Fortnite One Piece collab guide.
Epic has also published its pass lineup for the rest of 2026. A Music Mini-Pass starts on 12 November, and a LEGO Mini-Pass and the normal Fortnite Battle Pass both start on 5 December. Fortnite Crew, at $11.99 a month, includes the Battle Pass, and its monthly V-Bucks grant is 800 now and becomes a ladder of 1,000, 1,200, 1,400 and 1,600 from 5 December 2026.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many levels does the Fortnite Battle Pass have?
A full season has 100 levels and a mini-season has 50. After level 100 a Bonus Rewards track opens for anyone holding the paid pass, and Epic publishes no top level for it.
How much XP does each Fortnite Battle Pass level take?
80,000 XP per level, the same from the first level to the last. A full pass therefore needs 8,000,000 XP and a 50-level pass needs 4,000,000.
Do Battle Stars still exist in Fortnite?
No. Battle Stars were retired on 1 December 2024. XP now opens each reward directly, and the same XP feeds every pass at once.
What happens if you do not finish the Battle Pass?
Everything you claimed stays, and anything you earned but did not claim arrives at your next login. Levels you never reached are lost, and the pass cannot be bought once the season has ended.
