Fortnite Crew tiers arrive on 5 December 2026 as a four-step V-Bucks ladder, and the $11.99 price does not change. Through 4 December the grant is a flat 800 V-Bucks a month. From 5 December it runs from 1,000 at Core to 1,600 at Gold, depending on how many consecutive months you have subscribed.
On paper the V-Bucks and passes inside Crew are worth several times the fee. This guide prices them against Epic’s current V-Bucks packs, shows how long each tier takes to reach, and marks the point where the paper value stops being real money.
The Monthly V-Bucks Grant in Three Dated Steps
Epic announced the overhaul on 4 November 2026. It is the third version of the monthly grant, so every figure needs a date next to it.
| Period | V-Bucks a month | What it matches |
|---|---|---|
| Before the 2026 cut | 1,000 | The long-standing monthly grant |
| Now, through 4 December 2026 | 800 | The same V-Bucks as the $8.99 pack |
| From 5 December 2026 | 1,000 to 1,600 | A ladder that rises with consecutive months |
The drop to 800 followed Epic’s March 2026 V-Bucks repricing, when the $8.99 pack shrank from 1,000 to 800 V-Bucks. Epic’s explanation at the time was that running Fortnite had become much more expensive. The December ladder is the first time the grant rises again.
Fortnite Crew Tiers From 5 December 2026

Four tiers apply from 5 December 2026. The figures below compare each one with the flat 800 that applies until 4 December.
| Tier | Consecutive months subscribed | V-Bucks a month | Against today’s 800 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Core | 1 to 2 months | 1,000 | +200 (+25%) |
| Bronze | 3 to 5 months | 1,200 | +400 (+50%) |
| Silver | 6 to 11 months | 1,400 | +600 (+75%) |
| Gold | 12 months or more | 1,600 | +800 (+100%) |
Gold doubles today’s grant. Core is the smallest step, a 25% rise, and every subscriber lands at Core or above, so nobody receives less than 1,000. Epic places existing subscribers by consecutive months subscribed in the past 12, which means months served before 5 December already count.
Fortnite XP changes on the same day. A Crew member earns +20% XP, and party members without Crew earn +10%. The boosts do not stack, so a party gets a single 10% boost however many members hold Crew. The XP boost has no V-Bucks price, so it stays out of the arithmetic below.
How Many Months Each Tier Takes and What a First Year Pays
The table below follows a brand-new subscriber who joins after 5 December 2026. It assumes each month’s grant matches the tier you sit in that month. The final column is what the old flat 800 would have paid over the same months.
| Month | Tier | V-Bucks that month | Running total | Flat 800 total |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Core | 1,000 | 1,000 | 800 |
| 2 | Core | 1,000 | 2,000 | 1,600 |
| 3 | Bronze | 1,200 | 3,200 | 2,400 |
| 4 | Bronze | 1,200 | 4,400 | 3,200 |
| 5 | Bronze | 1,200 | 5,600 | 4,000 |
| 6 | Silver | 1,400 | 7,000 | 4,800 |
| 7 | Silver | 1,400 | 8,400 | 5,600 |
| 8 | Silver | 1,400 | 9,800 | 6,400 |
| 9 | Silver | 1,400 | 11,200 | 7,200 |
| 10 | Silver | 1,400 | 12,600 | 8,000 |
| 11 | Silver | 1,400 | 14,000 | 8,800 |
| 12 | Gold | 1,600 | 15,600 | 9,600 |
Twelve payments of $11.99 come to $143.88 and return 15,600 V-Bucks, against 9,600 under the flat grant. That works out to about 0.92 cents per V-Buck, which beats the smallest pack and loses to the largest. Six of the twelve months are spent in Silver, the longest stretch of any tier.
What the Monthly V-Bucks Are Worth Against $11.99

The value of a V-Buck depends on which pack you would otherwise buy. Epic’s current pack prices set the range.
| Pack price | V-Bucks | Cost per V-Buck |
|---|---|---|
| $8.99 | 800 | 1.12 cents |
| $22.99 | 2,400 | 0.96 cents |
| $36.99 | 4,500 | 0.82 cents |
| $89.99 | 12,500 | 0.72 cents |
The smallest pack is the expensive end at 1.12 cents each and the largest is the cheap end at 0.72 cents. Pricing each grant at both ends gives a range rather than a single answer.
| Monthly grant | Value at the $8.99 pack rate | Value at the $89.99 pack rate | Against the $11.99 fee |
|---|---|---|---|
| 800 (today) | $8.99 | $5.76 | Under $11.99 at both rates |
| 1,000 (Core) | $11.24 | $7.20 | Just under $11.99 at the smallest-pack rate |
| 1,200 (Bronze) | $13.49 | $8.64 | Above $11.99 at the smallest-pack rate only |
| 1,400 (Silver) | $15.73 | $10.08 | Above $11.99 at the smallest-pack rate only |
| 1,600 (Gold) | $17.98 | $11.52 | Above $11.99 at the smallest-pack rate only |
The fee equals about 1,067 V-Bucks at the smallest-pack rate and about 1,666 at the largest. Core therefore falls just short of paying for itself on V-Bucks alone, Bronze clears it if you would buy small packs, and Gold only just misses at the large-pack rate.
Epic Rewards changes the small-pack figure. Purchases made through Epic’s payment system earn 20% back, which Epic states as $1.79 back on the $8.99 pack, so 800 V-Bucks costs about $7.20 net. At that rate Bronze’s 1,200 is worth about $10.80 and Silver’s 1,400 about $12.60. If you already hold V-Bucks gift cards, the guide to redeeming a V-Bucks gift card explains how they redeem at their printed value.
The Passes at Face Value and the December Basket

The passes are where the paper value comes from. These are the standard prices in V-Bucks after the March 2026 changes, priced at the same two pack rates.
| Pass | V-Bucks | At $8.99 pack rate | At $89.99 pack rate | In Crew |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Fortnite Battle Pass | 800 | $8.99 | $5.76 | Included now and after |
| OG Pass | 800 | $8.99 | $5.76 | Included until 5 December 2026 |
| Music Pass | 1,200 | $13.49 | $8.64 | Included now and after |
| LEGO Pass | 1,200 | $13.49 | $8.64 | Included now and after |
| Four passes together | 4,000 | $44.95 | $28.80 | Today’s full set |
Fortnite is in a short mini-season called Treasure Hunters, with its own Battle Pass. The normal Battle Pass returns on 5 December 2026, and the table uses its standard 800 V-Bucks. The Music and LEGO mini-passes due on 12 November and 5 December are reported at 1,000 V-Bucks each, a little under the regular 1,200.
Putting the V-Bucks and passes together gives three baskets. The OG Pass drops out in December, which removes 800 V-Bucks from the pass total, while the grant itself rises by 200 to 800 depending on tier. The December baskets use regular-size Music and LEGO passes.
| Basket | V-Bucks | At $8.99 pack rate | At $89.99 pack rate |
|---|---|---|---|
| Today: 800 V-Bucks plus four passes | 4,800 | $53.94 | $34.56 |
| December, Core: 1,000 plus Battle, Music and LEGO | 4,200 | $47.20 | $30.24 |
| December, Gold: 1,600 plus Battle, Music and LEGO | 4,800 | $53.94 | $34.56 |
Every basket is worth between $30 and $54 against a fee of $11.99. A Gold subscriber with all three remaining passes at regular size lands on exactly the same 4,800 V-Bucks as today’s full set.
Where the Paper Value Stops Being Real
Face value counts what a pass would cost, not what you would have spent. Five limits apply to every figure above.
- You only gain on passes you would have bought. A Music Pass you never wanted is worth nothing to you at 1,200 V-Bucks.
- A completed Battle Pass pays for itself. It costs 800 V-Bucks and awards 800 on completion, with no V-Bucks left in the Bonus Rewards track. Someone who finishes every pass already pays nothing net for it.
- Nothing published says a Crew-granted pass pays that 800 out. The arithmetic leaves those V-Bucks out entirely.
- Crew passes lock when you stop paying. Crew gives you access to claim the premium rewards on the Battle Pass, Music Pass and LEGO Pass while you stay subscribed; claimed rewards are yours to keep, but new premium levels lock once your paid period ends. A pass bought with V-Bucks has no such lock.
- The Crew Pack has no price. It was never sold separately, and the last outfit pack arrives in December 2026.
Epic’s subscription terms say the content in a subscription includes items that would cost at least as much as the fee. The arithmetic here suggests that is true on paper, but only for a subscriber who wants most of what is in the box.
What Crew Makes Redundant and What It Does Not

If you hold Crew, you do not need to buy these:
- The Fortnite Battle Pass, 800 V-Bucks on its own.
- The Music Pass, 1,200 V-Bucks at regular size.
- The LEGO Pass, 1,200 V-Bucks at regular size, covering both LEGO Fortnite Odyssey and Brick Life.
- The OG Pass, 800 V-Bucks, until it ends on 5 December 2026.
- Rocket Pass Premium, which is Rocket League’s pass and arrives as a bonus for the current Rocket League season.
Crew does not replace the Item Shop, and it is not stated to cover the Battle Bundle, which Epic prices at 2,600 V-Bucks for the pass plus the first 25 levels. If you bought a pass and then join Crew within 14 days, Epic returns the V-Bucks you paid, provided the pass is still active, and the pass becomes subscription-locked. Epic does not give a prorated refund on the fee itself, as the guide to Fortnite refunds explains.
Who Should Skip Crew and Who Should Take It
Three profiles come out of the numbers.
- The one-pass player. If you buy only the Battle Pass and finish it, the pass costs nothing net. Crew then buys you 1,000 to 1,600 V-Bucks worth $7.20 to $17.98 for $11.99, which is a loss at the large-pack rate. Skip it.
- The Music and LEGO buyer. Those two passes cost 2,400 V-Bucks, which is $26.97 at the smallest pack and $17.28 at the largest. One Crew month covers both and pays a V-Bucks grant on top. Take it, then expect the lock to bite when you stop.
- The long-run subscriber. Silver and Gold reward staying, with 1,400 and 1,600 V-Bucks. Missing the 6 to 31 December 2026 resubscribe window drops a lapsed player back to Core.
The weak spot for every profile is the lock. A subscription that runs for one month earns one month of premium levels, so Crew suits players who grind a pass across the whole season.
The Game Pass Ultimate Shortcut
Xbox Game Pass Ultimate has included Fortnite Crew since 18 November 2025, so an Ultimate subscriber pays nothing extra for it. Epic’s 4 November post does not say whether the tiers and the XP boost apply to those members, so the ladder arithmetic above cannot be assumed for them. The cloud-play side of the subscription is covered in the Xbox Cloud Gaming guide.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many V-Bucks does Fortnite Crew give each month?
It gives 800 V-Bucks a month through 4 December 2026. From 5 December 2026 it gives 1,000 at Core, 1,200 at Bronze, 1,400 at Silver and 1,600 at Gold. The price stays at $11.99 for every tier.
Do Fortnite Crew tiers reset if I cancel?
Your tier follows consecutive months subscribed in the past 12. If you resubscribe between 6 and 31 December 2026, your most recent continuous run still counts. After 31 December you restart at Core.
Is Fortnite Crew worth $11.99 a month?
It is worth it if you would buy the Music Pass, the LEGO Pass or both, since those two cost 2,400 V-Bucks together. It is a weaker deal for someone who only finishes the Battle Pass, because a completed pass already returns its own 800 V-Bucks.
Does the Fortnite Crew XP boost stack with friends?
No. The member earns +20% XP and party members without Crew earn +10%. A party receives one 10% boost even if several members have Crew.
